This is the house I was always scared of walking pass. The ground would shake along with ferocious barking from these Irish wolfhound sprinting down from the porch of the house. I was on assignment documenting a small town in St George, outback Queensland. This wasn't intend for the assignment but I just had to find out who lives here and why the need for such fences and why the scary looking rims on the VL. The fence, the car, the dogs these are hints and warning not to enter. With my curiosity I waited at the gate waiting for some kind of response from the person living in there. Out comes a man, an older gentleman with his walker, it took him a fair while to get to me from the porch of his house. Upon that he asked what my business was, I simply told him I'm here because of my curiosity. He then slowly open the gate and invited me in. My first thought was, I'm dead, I'm about to be eaten alive by these dogs. Upon walking towards the house the dogs checked me out and sniffed me out. They were nice! A lot nicer than I thought! The gentleman's name was Dick, Dick Kingdom. He made me tea and offered me biscuits. It turned out that Dick had quite a history being a bush man, killing roos for a profession. He even wrote his own book! A biography about his journey through life. I asked him how the ending was, he quoted "life is short and the longest just a span, with good undone and gifts misspent and resolutions vain. This I know ; I would live the same life over if I had it to live again, and th chances are I'll go where most men go" we ended the conversation there.
