Life isn’t fair, but it gets better.
Let me introduce you to Robert, Robert was doing his dream job as a horsemen breaking into 500 horses a month in 1981. Until a tragedy fell upon him where he was found lying on the ground with a full grown horse on in head for 4 hours. 5 full years were spent rehabilitating Robert, since then he has been spending his time in a wheelchair, living in poor conditions, Robert suffers from brain injuries, severe spinal injuries, a loss of balance, limited motor control of his limbs, arthritis and bone deformity. Robert can't eat solid food as he doesn't have any teeth, Robert can’t clean because of his disability. Robert is happy none the less as he said “why be sad when you can be happy”
He is left to his own devices as the town believes that he is fully capable and is able to function as a ‘normal’ human being. Upon hearing the story I felt incredibly sorry for Robert as he is full of life and never look at himself in a disabled sense.
This is his life.
Until an angel was sent to him, the angel was in a form of a lady called Stephanie. Steph was new to the town and was looking for a place to stay, they crossed path when Robert was out riding around town, after a conversation Robert welcomed Steph into his house. She then soon become his carer, but was not supported by an organisation. The town has a negative image of Steph as they think that she is kidnapping Robert and stealing his money. Since meeting Steph, his life has radically transformed, he's quit smoking and now paying his bills. One could say that Steph has put an end to this chapter of Robert’s life and starting a new bright chapter in a different town where they can start the journey the right foot in.
The future seems bright for both Robert and Steph as they are leaving St George to seek a new life and adventure.
